ALA Banned Books Week

September 25, 2010 § Leave a comment

This next week marks the 29th year of the American Library Association’s Banned Books Week. This is always one of my favorite weeks of the year, since it reminds me of all those fantastic books that I need to read as a thumb-to-the-nose to the people who would limit one’s right to read and think.

I’ve read and loved several of the books that were challenged in the last year. Others are on my to-read list. This week, consider checking out a book that someone has deemed inappropriate. Just for the fun of it!

Check out a map of banned books here. Thanks, Julia!
